HTC Community is growing
The Hydrochar newsletter was silent for a while but activity on Hydrothermal Carbonisation was high....
It has been a long wait for the continuation of our newsletter! But now we are back with information about Hydrochar - knowledge, plants and technology, publications, events (see below!) and ideas for Hydrochar utilisation...
In the meantime, the world of Hydrochar has not stood still: in May 2023, the 3rd International HTC Symposium was held in Seoul / South-Korea at which many interesting projects, studies, plants and ideas were presented. The event was also an opportunity to make valuable contacts and included not only presentations, but also a workshop with the kind support of the OECD, at which new working groups were formed that are still working on the topic of hydrochar today. A network has formed here, which is also to be transferred into an association https://sites.unica.it/hydrochar/hydrothermal-carbonization-htc/ and from which we are constantly receiving input, that we want to present in this newsletter. By reading this newsletter, readers will have their finger on the pulse of HTC and Hydrochar!
Four working groups - Technology, Research, Policy and Business - were formed at the OECD workshop in Seoul and meet regularly online; new members are welcome. This workshop has yielded a number of publications, e.g. a publication by the business and policy group which provides an overview of existing companies and projects or plants and which has drawn up a strengths and weaknesses analysis (SWAT analysis) for hydrothermal carbonisation ("Business and Market Analysis of Hydrothermal Carbonization Process: Roadmap toward Implementation").
The next event in this series will take place next year in the USA in New Orleans (4th International Symposium on Hydrothermal Carbonization), please see the call-for-abstracts flyer attached below. The deadline for the submission of abstracts has already passed, but we have heard that interesting presentations are welcome and will certainly still be accepted...
